Any leading edge tips??

Post by MikeB »

Getting close to installing the new leading edge from WAG on my L16 wings ( 2 piece, plus wing tip). By the way, they seem to fit very nice. Any tips on installation before I get myself in trouble :? . Also, the leading edge stiffener from WAG is "L" shaped rather than "T" shaped unlike the original stiffener. I'm told it's like a 7EC uses. Uncertain whether the "L" goes up or down. I'm guessing a Citabria probably uses the same stiffener.

Any hints or ideas appreciated. (Asking dumb questions is always better than making dumb mistakes and this is my first set of complete wings).

Enjoyed meeting and visiting with a lot of Aeronca members at Middletown :D :D .

Thanks,

Mike,

No tips but great to see you in Middletown as well!

Mike made a sizeable purchase with Wag-Aero while at the fly-in, so really helped make their trip worthwhile.

Keep us up on how things are going and pls post photos when you can!

Mike, Can't say for sure on the "L", but four ratchet straps help hold the leading edge in place to test fit, drill and rivet/screw.

Here's a good link from the supercub site... http://www.supercub.org/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?t=16107

When I ordered the parts for my wings, I got the "L" stiffener as well. My thought is to put the long leg pointed into the wing, but I'm really not sure at this point.

I use bungee cord to hold the leding edge in place. Not the packaged one with the hooks. Have about 30' of it.

Thanks Guys: The edges seem to fit pretty well and I tried to keep the ribs 'lined up' when I installed them. My same thought on the "L" stiffener ("L" up or back). Guess I need to buy a couple more straps.

Our "Fly In" is this weekend so everything is on hold right now. Weather looks great though for a change :D .
