Another Great NAA Convention!

After not being able to fly to the 2004 and 2006 NAA Conventions in Middletown because of local weather here in South Carolina it was great to get back again. I really want to thank those who worked hard to make it a fun get-together. As usual the NAA Convention was a "human scale" event where you can look at the airplanes and talk to the people without being overwhelmed or overrun. The knowledge of Aeronca people is simply astounding and when you add Bill Pancake's knowledge there is more to learn than you can possibly absorb in a long weekend.
On Friday I took my 4th trip to the Air Force Museum in Dayton. The highlight for me this year was in the restoration shops when we were able to look at (and touch) the Memphis Belle, which is currently under restoration.
On Saturday Aeronca, Inc. gave us the most informative tour of their plant yet and threw in a wonderful lunch to boot. It's literally amazing to see the change in "aerospace" technology when you compare our Aeronca built Champs, Chiefs and Sedans with the components they build today.
When it was time to fly out on Sunday morning I had a jammed brake cable and I want to thank Joea, Craig and Jeff for their help in getting the brake cable fixed and me on my way. Then in Richmond, KY the Champ flooded and I want to thank two of our Tennessee members for helping me get an honery Champ started. Thanks again to all who helped me.
For those of you who didn't come - y'all missed a really great "family reunion" - start planning now to fly your Aeronca to Middletown in 2010.
