Ceconite 101 or 102

My champ came with wing envelopes. I was happy about it till I started looking at them today. They are made from 101. I thought 101 was kind of over kill for a champ. I was planning on them being 102. So now the dilemma is, to use them or not. Any of you fabric gurus have an opinion for me. How much weight could 101 ad?

Wonder how much heavier this fabric is over the lighter version? Bet that its not that much but worth looking at.

Go with the lighter fabric on the tail feathers even if you have to buy new. Its not that much to change if needed and the arm on weight that far back does not help.

There's about 4 pounds difference between Heavy and Medium weight fabric when covering the entire airplane (Cub/Champ size). 6 pounds between Heavy and Uncertified Light. On the wings only; I'd say there's less than 2 pounds difference. You will notice the weave more on the Heavy fabric, because the pill/thread is thicker. Some people will try to fill the weave with silver and that's where you can add a lot of weight quickly.

If on a tight budget, don't sweat it and use the Heavy. But if you're the type of person that lets the little details grind on you for the next 30 years; save yourself and switch to the medium fabric.

If you do decide to get new medium fabric for the wings, save the heavy and use it on the belly, bottom sides of the horizontal and elevators. The heavy will prevent some of the rocks from poking holes. Heavy fabric tapes are also nice around the door and grab handles... basically anywhere there's a lot of wear or chance of damage.
