Required number of wing inspection plates - requirement?

Is there a required number of inspection plates -per wing? My A&P thought the number was 12 and my aircraft has less than that number.

GOOD MORNING JOHN, 7AC WING COVERING DRAWING, 4-547, CALLS FOR 7 INSPECTION COVER RINGS UNDER EACH WING AND 1 ON THE TOP.
