Lift struts

Does anyone know if all pre war chiefs have steel lift(wing)struts? and
are they the same as post war chiefs? Thanks, Jeff 41'65CA

Only the prewar 65CA (mid '40 to 41) had steel struts. They attached different than the previous aluminum struts. Will have to check for the the rest of your question.

hey jeff i have looked in every barn and rundown airport in the midwest good luck. i needed one myself and u can buy them at univair$$$$ so pete plumb from woodwing specicalty is building a jig for the 65ca and 65lb struts woodwingdoc@yahoo.com if you need any more info give me a call

I,ve got a few aluminum struts in the barn. If someone needs to borrow one let me know. They may be serviceable???
I do have one steel strut but it's in bad shape, I think it's a rear.

ya the jig would be for the front steel struts

Ours had steel, I know this because they were showing a tad of surface rust.
