Cooling for 85hp
Cooling for 85hp
Problems with our 46champ with 85hp running approx. 210 degrees in Texas heat while it may be within specs would like to get it down to 190, we installed new baffling, have oil filer fin however results have not been enough. I understand Bill Pancake used a scoop with tubing run to oil filter anyone have drawings for this.?

No drawing, but I ran into the same problem. Service Letter 26 helped a little bit; not so much opening the eyelets, but the firewall mod. I eventually riveted a flange onto the back baffel and pointed a piece of SCAT tube on the oil filter and fins. It brought it down, but 200* on a 95* day was the best I could do.
Turns out, the best idea is to put a blast tube on the oil screen. At cruise, you flow 3 gallons a minute through there which makes it a great place to pull heat.
