My Primer line has been rubbing against something and it needs to be changed out, but I noticed the Cone fitting
(AN 800-2) at the end is semi-permanently attached to the line.
How would I remove and re-attach the fitting * to new aluminum or copper line?
Looks like it might be soldered or JB Weld?

This part can either be soldered to the metal tube or some are compression style fittings.

Can you get the tubing off to the point where you can take it somewhere to get new tubing? Most of this is plain 1/8th copper tubing and should be easily available.

Yep, I have the old line off, and no problem on new tubing, I have new alum tube ready to go.
Ideally, can I just heat up the old tubing/Cone to melt the solder and then solder that Cone onto the new Alum tubing?
I thought about just a regular Compression Ring but this Cone appears to have a larger diameter than a 1/8" compression ring.
If I use AN fittings, what fittings would I need to attach to the Jet Primer?
The Jet Primer appears to have a (normal) 37 degree female receptacle, which makes me believe AN fittings won't work here.

A question. Why are you using aluminum tubing? Is the original copper or aluminum? Have never seen aluminum used for primer in the firewall forward area.

Not sure on the fittings themself but remember that much of this is 1930's tech and many of the parts were from a tractor store.

Jim,
If you use the aluminum line you need to have the correct flux for soldering steel to the aluminum.
Cessna uses a lot of these fittings silver soldered to the steel primer lines.
If you plan to change to a compression style fitting the primer nozzle will need to be replaced.

Glad you chimed in here. Any reason to use aluminum?

Have always been concerned about vibration and thus used copper from firewall forward for any hard lines carrying fluids. Guess if Cessna uses it then its ok but...

I have never used aluminum and choose the annealed copper or steel for primer lines.
I like the compression fittings for ease of manufacture and repair. I will fix the line using the AN800 only when the primer and nozzle is machined for this style fitting, to save the replacement costs.

thanks guys, ...no particular reason for Alum., (I already had it at the hangar).
I'm headed out there in a couple of days with a small portable Butane bottle
and if I can cleanly separate the Cone from the (old) copper line,
then I'll stay with new copper.
