I think what you want is in Charlie Lashers book AERONCA Champs and Chiefs. On page 131 132 & 133, labeled Service Helps and Hints No. 12,
Installation of Snare Cable. If you don't have it, I could copy it for you and mail it to you. My computer knowledge only allows me to turn the computer on and off. I have no Idea how to post pictures or any of that kind of stuff.

Found what I believe you are looking for.

I know they're not required with aluminum pistons but I put them on my Champ anyway for "peace of mind" as I already had them.
