heavy duty brakes, options?

Post by Max Hanft »

Does anyone have any cheaper options or ideas for meeting the heavy duty brake requirement on Ak Bush Wheels. I would love to get my 7ec on BWs but I am having a hard time swallowing almost $4,000 on brakes from Wag.

It's a long shot but...
Call ACA and ask for a supplement to install Goves; since they own the TCDS and install them on all current models. Or get a copy of the Cleveland STC and data proving Groves are equal to Clevelands and take it too a Fed.

Not sure if this has an relevance but I called ACA last summer about the same thing. But then my Champ is an AC not an EC and I was told I couldn't do it since it is a different model????

I have the 26" BW's on my Champ and the mechanic signed it off with the factory Van Sickle brakes. His opinion was..."what constitutes heavy duty brakes" and While I do wish I had much better braking power they slow the plane down enough that I haven't run off the end of my strip...yet;)

If you call ACA and can find some way for approval I would be very greatful to get the info from you. But as I stated earlier the EC may be able to do it.
