Chief self-starter
Is there anyone who re-manufacturers the self-starter mechanics for the Chief? We have the handle but nothing else. We're having our plane recovered and it would be a great time to have this rebuilt if we can find the parts.

Welcome to the NAA site. What you are looking for is the McDowell starter. Start asking around locally and watch some of the auction sites for the starter. Read up on this site about the starter and the differences between the A65 and the C85 bracketry. I have made some parts for the starter in the past, should you need them.

Welcome on board.
There was a complete McDowell starter for sale at Middletown a month ago for $1100.
They are rare as hens teeth, so keep your eyes open.
