I have an 11AC with mechanical heal brakes on the left side. Has anyone ever added mechanical brakes to the right side without upgrading to hydraulic? Considering this for some training purposes and would like brakes on both sides.

Re: Dual brakes
Todd,
Have heard of it being done but never seen it in person. I believe that the right side rudder pedals are drilled for heel brakes but....
The Sedan uses the 11CC style of brake pedal and have heard of some of them having dual brakes but again never seen one in person.
Just looked in my Aeronca blueprints and did not find anything that might help. It might be there but until we can find an index thats it.

Re: Dual brakes
Joe,
in your opinion add dual side braking or even use on both side the 11CC toe braking would involve major paperwork (and maybe the involvement of a designate FAA engineer) or can it be done with just a 337 and minimal documentation (like drawing for the 11CC - Note: I check the drawing list on Aeronca.com and looks like the 11CC Toe Brake drawing are missing)? I am not worried about how difficult would be doing the mod but the paper work with the FAA it may worried me.
Thanks,

Re: Dual brakes
Micky,
If we can find the original blueprint, its an easy job. Look on the Type Certificate Data sheet and if dual brakes are listed there, there would be no "approval" needed with the feds, just a logbook entry.
