National Aeronca Association Bulletin Board

As many of you know I'm currently a geographic bachelor away from my sweet, loving, caring, Tri-Champ and my family while playing Army in Georgia.

Well to make a short story shorter the infamous Nate requested my muscles to help make a mammoth brush pile that will hopefully keep us warm this Saturday night during the annual “Georgia Boys” bon fire.

After putting the finishing touches on the 12 foot pile of brush Nate had the audacity to ask me if I wanted to go fly. Of course I would rather fly than eat so I told him of course and we proceeded to roll up on some type of airplane that looks like it was suppose to be a Champ but got confused somewhere along the way. I managed to metamorphosis and squeeze into the front seat while skinny jumped in the back. Now this is where the yellow thing on steroids comes into play………….this airplane with 230lbs in the front and 300+ in the back jumped into the air way before I was ready to quit riding the mains. You see when you fly with a training wheel every now and then you want to ride around with the tail up just to make sure you still remember how.

Anyway, Nate is a true gentleman and someone I truly hope to get to know better over my year away from home.

FYI: Joe if you see a flame out there in Arizona coming from the east Saturday night…….don’t be alarmed it’s just the Georgia Boys with a visitor from Oklahoma.

You need to kick Nate's rear end and do it in the direction of his CHAMP! Hope he someday has time to get it back up in the air!

Glad you are having a good time over there and got to fly, even if its in a yellar airplane!

Buy him a brew for me and ask him why he is not returning my emails!

I've heard about "them other airplanes"... I suppose it'll suffice if you have to be away from your airplane.

Any chance you could help us Iowegians out with some heat from that bonfire?

Chris, planning on coming down Saturday. Don't get worried unless they want to have a midnite showing of "Deliverance". Don't guess Nate told you about that, huh? Anyway, glad you are in town. Nate and Kelley and their entire family are tops in my book. Have you met his dad(Bill)? He is a walking encyclopedia of old airplane information. You all stay warm. David J.

Chris & Nate came to the bonfire. All had a fine time. A little cold and it rained later that night. I stayed in a tent and Nate slept in his camper shell with his dog. Stayed up till 2:30 talking plane stuff. Chris had to leave early to check on some of his boys at another party. Derek has a nice place. He lives in the back of his hangar. But his shower leaves a little to be desired. It does have hot water. Just be careful if you drive up without warning. Might get a short peep show.......David J.

Let me see....I see a special blue mixing device disguised as a water cooler, David Johnson and an outdoor shower, Nate and his dog, bonfire....makes me wonder, Chris do you need therapy and does the Army cover it?

Had the whole adventure not been offset with an hour in the Travel Air I would have needed multiple therapy sessions.

I was wondering the same thing! Course after my last "therapy sesson" with Nathan and his special cocktail in Middletown 2008 it may be too late!

Thought about crashing the party but I was tied up that night and still have the rope burns to prove it.
