Anyone have experience with the new Lang or Matco tailwheels. Price is appealing. The Lang PN D-501A (Aircraft Spruce) is listed for $375.96, The Matco is listed at $191 - pneumatic, $138 - hardrubber. I am looking for a reasonably priced alternative to my Maule and don't want to pay $700 for a Scott.

don't think the matco are faa/pma approved as a replacement for the originals, thats why the price is so low. you'd need a field approval to put the matco on and that would probably cost as much as the lang tailwheel to do. food for thought. bernie

Bob, a good tail wheel is available from Aviation Products in Ojai, CA. It,s not certified but works very well. Alot of the Pitts crowd uses them. They are about $240 direct or slightly higher from Aircraft Spruce. If I was going to do a 337 on any tailwheel, it would be this one. If you would like more info. stop by hanger 135 @ LVK. I have a NEW Lang tailwheel, removed a Scott DC-3 Type. I am not
happy with mine...it takes too much pressure to turn. If I had it to do
over would opt for the Maule one. The Scott 2000 is good but want too
much for the NAME.

I have had a Lang on my J-3 for two years now and am very happy with it, works great, turns easy. When I get my Champ flying again I will put a Lang on it.
