The handle is marked imperial w/tag for chief rear tank shut off There is a brass valve that has a finger strainer that looks like it might go in a tank that was with the handle, Two fuel gauges that have a float with a sight window ,do any of these sound lke they might go a Aeronca

Stephen,
That sounds like the correct valve for the Aeronca. The Chief aux tank valve was down by your left knee. Does this valve have a male and a female fittings or are both female?
The fuel gauge should have a very fine gear mechanism as stock, with a brass float. Some gauges are direct reading with a cork float, these are a replacement type that can be adapted to the Aeronca tanks.

Hi thank for the reply. The valve is maybe 1/4 p.t. female to male tank end with finger strainer hard to tell if tank side is a nipple or male end .One of the gauges has a metal float with a sight glass about the size of a quarter, the gear teeth for the gauges are real fine, I thnk I might have seen one of these gauges on a 7ac tank. Would of any this sound right Thanks for the info. Steve

Stephen,
Clean the valve up and use it as a spare. When you take it apart the stem seals can be different. Some use a copper washer to seal and the other has an O ring. Dab a little fuel lube on the cone and it should work smooth as silk.

I need some quick help. I'm getting ready for a long cross country in my 7AC and noticed some fuel weeping from the main fuel valve located underneath the gas tank. I removed it, disassembled it and found gouges and metal flakes. It may, or may not, be salvageable. If anyone knows where I can find a replacement, old or new, please let me know ASAP.
To ID the valve, I have a photo of the main valve in its original location. It now goes directly into the main tank.

Here is what the valve alone looks like.

Subject: Imperial Valves
Hello Mike, I have come into access to 375 Imperial Eastman valves. They are two way (on-off) NOS (new old stock), 1/4" pipe thread with the mounting ears. Female thread on one end and male on the other. Model number 103HDO4X04. . Waldo

What a great resource! I love this website. At 5 pm, I need help. By 9:30, I've got three helpful responses. A source for an NOS fuel valve; an article by John Probst on how to work on the fuel valves and, lo and behold, a neighbor living at my airport (C77) who has a project Champ that won't be worked on for a couple of years and, in his basement, he found an identical fuel valve that he is willing to "loan" to me until I get a replacement, or get mine fixed. Turns out we both have the "old style" fuel valves, with a tapered plug and single "keeper."
So, if all goes well, I should fly my Champ to the NE Regional Aeronca Fly-In beginning on 9/9/2011!

I sent Waldo an email yesterday through AOL and it went through, so he still has the same email address. No reply yet. I searched for him on the internet and found a phone number but it was disconnected. He still owns a Luscombe, N40WK listing his address in Baldwinsville, NY, so I have a home address, if that listing is up-to-date. If anyone knows how to reach him other than the AOL account, please let me know. Or have him call me.

I got hold of him at bvilleflier [ at ]aol.com . got an answer from him right away. try that address and I will try to find his mailing address in case you need it. See someone on ebay has some for sale starting at $ 150.00 plus shipping. I bet he bought some from Waldo for $ 25.00 each and trying to make $ 125.00 off each one. Must be a lawyer.
