WANTED - Wheels

Post by rkittine »

Hi,

I am looking for a matching pair of 6" wheels, preferrably pre-drilled for hub caps, for my 7AC CONV - 7CCM. I have a pair of 6" wheels that do not match and do not have the holes along the edge. Would also be happy to trade these.

Thanks - Robert

What brand of wheels are you looking for?

There were three types on Chief's/Champs.

Goodyear

Cleveland drum

Cleveland disk

Thanks Joe - Just goes to show you how little I know about these beautiful planes. They are 6 inch and I have mechanical brakes. Does that help? I have Hub Caps but since there was no drilled and tapped holes in the rim edge, they are held on by a Rub Goldberg arrangement connecting them to the three screw holes that hold on the dust covers over the axles. One side has 3 8/32 holes and the other wheel has 3 10/32 holes. - Robert

Bill P. was a big help and it turns out that I have one original 6" Drum Brake Wheel, which has an AD requiring 100 hr inspections of the rim for cracks, meaning tire off etc. They have been known to separate. My other one is apparently a 6" Drum Brake Cleveland from a newer model, probably a 7EC, which does not have the AD. I would like to buy one of these if anyone knows of one that is for sale.

Regards, Robert

Thank you for the heads up on the Wheels. I found them on eBay and though I am not sure if these are the type in need, I have bid on them. Bill Pancake knows which wheels I have, so I have sent him the data off the wheels on eBay and he should be able to confirm if these will work for me or not. I have Drum brakes and Cleveland Wheels and these are Good Year, but right now I am high bidder and even if they are not what I need, you can never have enough Airplane Junk in the Hanger
