Just came into have noon lunch and turned the news on. There was a newsflash regarding a hangar collapse and pictures of lots of vintage type planes tipped over due to a tornado or heavy storm. Looks pretty bad, they just said 70 people were trapped inside. Imagine there will be updates later. Mentioned an airshow so I'm thinking Sun and Fun.

Just tried to call Nate with no luck. I was able to get in touch with the David J's office and he has checked in OK.....looks like a mess down there.

Just read that the report of a building colapse and 70 people injured was inaccurate. The lastest is no serious injuries but several planes damaged.

Hope he did not take the Bird Dog. There is one down here torn up. We almost had Tater(Nate) Salad down here! Nate was at Bartow Fl working on the New Standard. Trying to get it to SnF for the show. Lots and Lots of hard work down the drain for the folks that lost planes and property. Very Thankfull no serious injuries that we have heard of. Scared the (you know what) out of everyone here. I was on foot for the opening act of the weather. Ran the last few hundred yards to camp. Got in the truck before the hail started. And yes, a fat boy can run when properly motivated! Weather is perfect this morning. You all Take Care, David J.

Glad to hear you are all OK, Dave. I streamed off the EAA site and it looks like a real mess down there. Our problem in this neck of the woods is more snow this morning!! YUK!! But supposed to warm into the 50's later next week.

Guys,
We did not fly down to SNF this year, we drove instead. We came back yesterday, an hour before the big winds hit, and both decisions were wise. There were certainly lots of aircraft damaged, and I'm really sorry about them. I hope this bad event doesn't stop SNF from having the fly-ins in the future. Maybe we should consider having a SNF in a different location. Lakeland weather isn't so hot for fly-ins.

Glad to hear you're OK, Mike. Oshkosh weather isn't always so decent either (like last year). One of the reason I never make accomadations much ahead of time considering it's only a three hour drive for me.
