Champ Training in Colorado?

Post by Champ Dreamer »

Well, the Champ is getting close to being a real FLYING machine, and I need to start sharpening my piloting skills. Is anyone aware of a flight school or instructor in Colorado that has a Champ?

Thanks,

It's a little ways from you, but......

My Uncle, Dick Trail, instructs in his 7AC Champ at the McCook, NE airport (MCK). A day with him and you'll be set.

If you need more info, let me know...

You might call Harris Aviation in Greeley. They used to have a Champ and there also used to be a lot of duster pilots who did tailwheel training. They might be able to help you out.

Well, after trying to "hook up" with Dick Trail for a couple of months, it became apparent that the powers to be were not going to get his Champ back together anytime soon. Dick referred me to Bill Fritsch (sp?) also in McCook Ne. (Go figure, nobody for miles around training in a Champ, and 2 in McCook). I rode the murdercycle up there friday, and flew with Bill Saturday in his gorgeous Champ. Two hours of pure bliss! Wonderful airplane, super instructor and a neat place to fly. I came away very invigorated, and with a fresh BFR. I was already motivated to get the Champ finished, but now I am about to become obsessed !!!

Going to work now,
