Aeronca CHIEF top cabin fabric attachment?

Post by AV8ERZ »

Hi Everybody, hope you all had a great Independence Day?
Well were moving along with the covering process and another question has risen! Did anybody who covered their Chief fuselage use screws to attach the fabric to the top "cabin" stringers? I ask because a week ago I seen a Stinson 108-2 depart our airport and I actually seen the fabric over the cabin "balloon up" off the stringers, if you have never seen this its quite a sight!! Anyway, looking forward to any info,

Thanks,

Michael

Michael,
I put a few rib stitches to secure the fabric. My early Chief had the fabric taut on the ground and would lift almost an inch in flight.
If you cover in poly-fiber it makes the problem worse.
