Crankshaft plug

Post by David Nielsen »

Another one of my dumb questions. I got the crank back from ECI but the plug was gone. I got another plug . My question is do i use casket cement on thee threads while installing it? My guess is yes.

I don't know what type of "gasket cement" you used but Permatex would have been fine. It's not an area that will be pressurized with oil pressure just splash/centrifical spray.

This is also an area you "should" inspect every 500 hours or so to remove the muck that forms at the plug area since this area is known for cracking and rust pitting will cause weakness in the tapered shaft. (Something to keep in the back burner)
