eisemann mags

Post by jb925 »

Hey guys,
I'm trying to decide if the eisemanns are worth messing around with, or if I should just bite the bullet and get bendix or slicks. Is there anyone that sells/repairs eisemanns? I'll take any advice!

Thanks,

John

John,
Fresno has repair parts for the Eisemann. I've used Savage Magneto in the past and had good results. Eisemann mags are a very well built magneto and would give you great service plus only one AD. My next choice would be the Bendix, both of these mags will go all the way to overhaul. Last would be the Slicks, not a high quality piece and needs the 500hr inspection just to keep them running. It wasn't a problem when they cost $195 bucks, now they cost as much as a good mag.
If you have the AM4 and want to go to a shielded mag this might be the time.

Like Paul said, Fresno Air Parts, listed on the inside front page of Trade A Plane has most of the parts you may need. I've also found some on E-bay and Barstormers.com over the years.
I'm absolutely happy with running my Eisemann AM-4's with the unshielded harness. Originally my Champ came with a Case and Eisemann until I found an Eisemann with a impuse on Barnstormers. I had the mag rebuilt by this guy in Iowa. He used to advertise in Trade A Plane, but I don't know if he's still around.

Here's the link to my post which has the info about him, it was just a little farther down this page.

I'll say again, I'm real happy to run with Eisemanns and don't plan on switching to Slicks or Bendix.
