Parking Brake Chief
Parking Brake Chief
Could someone on the list provide a scetch or drawing of how the parking brake cable attaches to the brake pedal on the Chief. Thanks
Re: Parking Brake Chief
I believe that you are looking for Aeronca drawing 7-506.

Griphos-Phil thanks that would help. Jerry
Re: Parking Brake Chief
No problem. I can tell you (because I had to work on mine recently) that there is a steel cable that runs from what is called the "link" in the drawing below to each brake pedal. On mine, there is a round hole on the right side of each pedal near the bottom and the cable runs through this hole and is swaged to itself. You want to be careful which way you run the cable through. On mine, it is different for each pedal and the right pedal catches sometimes because of the way the cable runs.
EDIT: deleted the pics as they were not needed.

Re: Parking Brake Chief
I have the manual with the same picture but it does not show the detail I'm looking for. I need to see what hardware and method was used to connect the cable end to the brake pedal. (park brake)
Re: Parking Brake Chief
Okay, will take a picture of mine, but mine is swaged. Do you have a swage tool?

Re: Parking Brake Chief
yes I do.
Re: Parking Brake Chief
Here's a pic of the brakes. As you can see, the wire is led through the hole on the lower right flange and swaged. You should do it as on the left brake, where the wire from the horn is led from outside to inside of the hole, not as on the right brake where it comes through from inside to outside. That side tends to stick because of the geometry of the wire.

Glad to help. Sorry it took so long. It's been a muddy mess here lately, and she lives on a grass strip.
