What did you think? I have read a number of books about the Airmen and hope that the movie is more than just a glamorized "Based" on a true story.

Have heard the same thing, that its full of computer graphics and short of the real thing.
Am not going for that and other reasons. I have a large poster that is signed by most of the living Red Tail pilots and salute them and what they did, just not real big on what Hollywood does for things when they make a movie...

They have a problem.
There are only a limited number of Mustangs still flying, not to mention B-17s, Focke Wulfs, etc. And even fewer red tail P-51s.
They wanna show some action, and don't want the expense of removing what few warbirds that are left, from the flying catagory. Thus, Lots of CGI.
If this show was done back in 1946, there would have been plenty of everything, and cheap too! Steermans were going for ~$50 each, PT-19 same, BT-13 about $100, AT-6 about same, P-51 could be had for around $500, Corsair about $500, B17 mabe $1000.
But there still needs to be a story behind all the computer generated action scenes.
