I am trying to reconstruct the greenhouse glazing on my L3 project which was removed when it was "civilianized".
I have found some drawings on for it on the DVD, but not for details around the area where the trailing edge of the wing meets the fuselage. That whole area is a little messy to reconstruct. I have found some excellent photos on the L3 yahoo group, where I discovered what some of the little brackets were for that have been cut off on mine.
If anyone has done something similar, I'd like to know and see some pictures if you have them. Or if you know of an appropriate drawing number that is available, let me know please.
Otherwise things are going well, if slowly; I have made new ply parts for the floors etc, and finishing them off in black lacquer( well, enamel actually) and polyurethane varnish. Controls are shiny black again. Stringers are in great shape, except for the plywood parts around the window areas. Header tank, gascolator and odds and ends are looking new again. So far, the only repair required were the threaded ends of the tank straps. I'll replace all copper/brass fuel lines with aluminium - saving ounces here and there is the only way to save a few pounds in the end.
Compared to my homebuilt projects where I designed and built everything from scratch this is almost easy and very enjoyable!
