This post and responses to it could easily fit into a number of topical catagories on the site but I have made it here because my particular interest is with respect to 1946 Chiefs, specifically mine, S/N 11 AC-614.
While I have fairly good history on my A/C, it really begins with a somewhat presumptuous entry saying it was delivered to an Ohio business which was involved in FBO and/or flight instruction. While there is a TCDS and it does the normal pedestrian work of identifying which subsystems and engine/propeller/nominal performance apply. I wonder if anyone has pursued the paper trail which surely had to exist once upon a time which was internal to Aeronca, the original buyer and within the working elements of the manufacturer itself. Are there copies somewhere of the original order for the A/C, modifications to the order, manufacturing production schedule, a list of the drawings for that particular A/C, records of assembly completions/inspections, test flight of the A/C by Aeronca, subcontractor identifications, etc.
My A/C also has had an incident which required a fuselage repair, went through a "restoration" in 2006/2007 and I think is in pretty good condition some 66 years later. All of this history will have little to do with reality when we go out for exercise (weather Gods permitting) this afternoon, but is a part of what I would like to know about her. Even if you don't have an answer to these questions, perhaps you know of someone else who has pursued such details ?
