Cruise speed

A lot will depend on what prop you have on it. I have a C-90 on my Champ and with a seaplane prop, I am lucking that I get over 80 out of it consistently. My Chief with a Stroke C085 (Supposed to be over 100 hp) didn't do any better. Both have climb props, which make the big difference.

Hope for favorable winds too. Sure you have taken that into consideration for fuel planning.

I have an 0-200 and a 6948 prop. At 2400 I am cruising at 85 mph. At 25 or 2550, I show about 90 mph. If i see 100, I have to pull out before I hit the ground.

I think MikeB has an 0-200 with a 6950 prop. Maybe he will jump in with his numbers.

I have an L16A with a C85-12 engine and a Sensenich 74CK-2-46 metal prop, I see 105 mph at full throttle 2550 rpm at level flight. I normally cruise at 2250 rpm giving me 87 mph burning a little less than 5 gal/hr. The engine has been recently overhauled.

As Dennis mentioned I have a L16A with the Wagner 0200 and a 69 x 50 prop. I usually try to cruise about 2450 and see somewhere between 90-95. I'm heavy though at about 950 EW. I'm sure 2550 would give me near 100 but also a little heavy on the 100LL.

My O-235 powered 7AC will cruise over 90 on floats. Was cruising on floats at 100+ (?) once at altitude at 2600rpm if I remember correctly. Ironically it flies at about the same speed on Bushwheels. I normally fly the plane at 2200rpm because I am never really going anyplace other than puddle jumping from lake to lake keeping an eye out for those bikinis that seem to flock to the lake shores in the summer.

When all of the dust and feathers have set, you're going to see just under 90mph. Plan the trip using 80mph and have a ball. Once you've established an accurate fuel burn, only then would I fly to minimum fuel.

Regarding fuel burn and range: my L16 with the 0200 Wagner conversion seems to run on the plus side of 6 GPH. I usually try to fly around 24-2450 rpm. I have 5 gallon wing tanks and a 13 gallon nose tank. However, it seems like I can only get around 4 gallons out of each wing tank (based on refilling them) and I usually figure about 12 gallons in the nose tanks as the last gallon or so goes in pretty slow so I figure about 20 gallons useable rather than 23. Technically, that would indicate probably 3 hours range but the "pucker factor" would get pretty tight so I'm figuring a fuel stop at two hours. For example: Oshkosh is about two hours away but I'd certainly stop and top off the tanks before entering the arrival 'merry go round'.

Having said that with only 40 hours or so on the plane with the 0200 conversion I don't have a real good handle on the fuel burn yet but maybe someone else with the 0200 conversion can jump in with better numbers.

The climb performance was horrendous with the 48 pitch, and the purpose of the champ isnt to get anywhere fast...

That being said, i have been all across the country this year, and i think its a fun cross country plane. IF you have time to spare.
I have a 13 gallon nose and two 5.5 wing, i usually stop every three hours, mainly to take a leek. I plan on 5.5 an hr at 2450 and leaned most of the time on XC's
