Someone walked away with their tail between their legs

Post by WWhunter »

Watched the debate last night. POTUS looked like a kid that got caught with his hand in the cookie jar!!! For once his arrogance and stature of his office didn't protect him from an honest whipping. He truly looked like a kid that was caught in a lie by his parents and was about to receive his punishment. I can't remember the last time I have seen him stammer so much and look for a way out of the hole he has dug for himself. The guy just doesn't get it....especially the part about taxes. Why the heck does he think he can tax us into prosperity. I am far removed from being one of those 1% elite rich people, but even I can see that taxing people into the poor house is going to do nothing for this country as far as getting out of this economic slump we are in.
In the end he walked out with his tail between his legs......truly got a good a$$ whooping.
Rant out!!

Totally agree!

The Prez looked like he was perturbed much of the debate, while Romney did a very good job of whipping his rear end.

Cannot wait for the next debates with the VP candidates... Ryan will clean the floor with Biden.

Wonder what happened to JC? He must have slept late and not seen this thread! :)

Nothing good ever comes from these political debates. Everyone has good and valid points. It ends up being a shouting match with each side thinking the louder they get the more correct their beliefs are.
There are sites devoted to this type of debate. I come to this one to talk about airplanes, and try to forget the nations situation for a minute. I under stand that this is an "off topic" area, but, if it's Politifiles or Pedofiles I don't think it belongs on an Aeronca site.

On another forum that WW and I are members of, this same thing came up some time ago. The owner / moderator of the forum did not want to do any kind of sensoring , but makes sure that the Off Topic material either is in Off Topic or gets moved to off topic. It is interesting in my experience to see some of the commonalities in others that have similar interests, whether it be hobbies, politics or other things. I know more pilots that also ride motorcycles, scuba dice, have similar political thoughts, are more Outdoorsy, hunt and fish etc. Kind of a Fraternity thing.

Although I agree that I come here for information about Aeroncas and other Aeronca related stuff, it is easy for me to just not read or respond (Normally :D ) to off topic issues or statements.

If however my Aeroncas could vote (When I lived in Chicago, I think they actually could  ) then it would be another story. :P

Pilots, it's time for a little Matz wisdom. From his Nov 11, 2004 post:

Dear NAA Forum participants,

We've already received some complaints about some of the jokes that have been posted here. I get to play mean Dad enough at home and really don't want to have to do this here also, but PLEASE remember that this forum can be viewed by anyone, children included. Please use good judgement when posting and leave your political views and off color jokes for other forums. We, the listops, will delete any entries we feel do not belong here.

There. Now lets not have to deal with this anymore! Thanks.

The president did make a comment about private jet aircraft owners in the debates.

In my state of Washington, there has been a legislation push by the members of the Obama's party to tax all private a/c on their value. My license fees would have gone from $65. per a/c to $180 per aeronca and were to be used for social programs; not aviation programs.

Furthermore, these politicians wrote articles in Seattle newspapers about the rich a/c owners to inflame the public to support their taxes.
A huge effort by AOPA, EAA and Washington Pilots Assoc along with Alaska Airlines put a stop to the taxes. Alaska Airlines told the committees that the destruction of general aviation in WA would occurr, which would affect the suppliers of their a/c parts.

Sadly, I don't like having to think about politics in tinkering and flying aeronca's, but there are serious issues looming such as fuel availabilty, taxes, and pilot medical issues.

At least there is now a pilot's bill of rights; but reading the form that I to sign when I got my medical, made me uneasy. Richard

I tend to agree with Richard. There are so many folks that think because you have an airplane you obviously must be "rich' (in their eyes) while not considering the aircraft owner might be doing without in other areas. My wife and I did with a lot less during our early married years and managed to raise the kids and help them through college, etc. If we made some wise investments along the way so much the better. I do get sick of the 'income redistribution crowd' . Heck....I'll bet my son's Harley cost more than my Champ (which I resurrected from the 'dead').

Politicians of both parties are always looking for a cash cow and I expect raising taxes on personal aircraft only puts the 'bite' on the aircraft owner whereas the general public could care less. Trying doubling auto registration fees and listen to the auto owners howl. On the bright side: in Wisconsin you pay a one time registration fee on 'antique aircraft' and no personal fees (read taxes) beyond that point.........yet!

I am always amused when someone questions my financial status because I own an airplane and I get to point out to them that they can buy two Champs for the price of their fancy pickup.

Unfortunately those people still don't get it. Case in example...I have a friend that asked me how in the heck I can afford an airplane. WHile asking this question he is standing next to his $45-50,000 diesel pickup that has a $30,000 fishing boat hooked up to it. I just stepped out of my 1995 Geo Tracker with 150,000 miles on it. I tried telling him I paid less in the initial purchase of my THREE airplanes than he has in his truck and boat. He still felt I was "rich" because I could afford a plane. Then he said but they cost so much to fly and maintain. He just paid $1200 to fix the lower unit on his boat motor and responded that it burns 5-6 gallons an hour when pulling skiers or going across a lake. I could not get it into his head that it didn't cost me anymore to own and fly a plane than he spent on his fishing/boating hobby. Yet I am the rich guy....go figure.

Don't forget to mention that in 5 years their stuff will be worth about 30 - 40% of what they paid for it and yours will be around 110 -130%

I've had boat owners tell me that the two happiest days of their lives were when they bought their boat; and when they sold it.
