Post by dfcpac »

i have a c85-12 in my champ and am looking into putting a skytec starter in. i do not have an electrical system so i'll be running it off of a gel cell under my seat. has anyone tried doing this?

Danny, That is exactly what was in my Chief. Skytech Lightweight Starter and a 12 Amp Hour Sealed Cell Battery. As it was on floats and not near a shop, I had a solar panel keeping it charge, though that is not the way it should be done as these batteries should be charged with a Constant Voltage Charger. Over 7 seasons I smoked two batteries. Since you have a hanger, you can use one of the multi-level chargers to keep a charge on the battery without over charging. That is what I have for the Sealed Acid Battery in my Champ. I can send you pictures if you want as this board will not accept any more as the quota has been reached. Ciao
