Hi everyone,
Reluctantly, I am needing to install a tab on my 7ac. I have the drawing of the tab but not sure where on the rudder it mounts. Also, whats the prefered attachment hardware? I would prefer to only drill thru one side of the tube and install with cherry rivets, but with screws it could be easly removed for corrosion inspection. Any thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Rudder Trim Tab
Jon,
It screws on with three #4 screws. Two in the rudder rear edge tube and one in the cross braced ribs, about 60% down on the rudder. There should be holes already there, most rudders have had a tab installed. Install the tab on the side it yaws to.

Re: Rudder Trim Tab
I was able to locate the three holes under the fabric on my rudder using a very sharp pick. If you have the life size drawing of the tab, print it out on paper, and lay it on the aft edge of the rudder to help locate the holes. When you find the first hole, the rest are easy.

Thanks, guys
I was looking for the holes today, too nasty to fly, anyway no joy yet, I think a paper template will be helpful.

If I get to the airport tomorrow I will take some pictures and make a drawing with the dimensions on mine.

Re: Rudder Trim Tab
Jon,
I have my rudder stripped down for recover and here is a picture of where the trim tap was attached.

The tab was riveted to the rudder.

Wow, Thanks Bob!
A picture is worth a thousand words, and probably a fair number of punched holes. Happy New Year!
