I am working on the details of an airstrip of my own which would be located in a field close to my home. My insurer has always asked for the "home airport location" and status of storage (hangar/non-hangared) when I applied for coverage. I assume that hangaring would have import in the sense of Hull coverage but am not sure if an extra cost will be charged for being "off-airport" so to speak on a personal airstrip vs a public airport. The final answer will, of course, be resolved by asking insurers this question. In the meantime, I wonder if anyone on the forum has experience with this since I am aware that some have their own airstrips and may have moved from a public airport to them. Thanks for the help.

Insurance Premium for Own Aairstrip ?
Re: Insurance Premium for Own Aairstrip ?
My experience with a private airstrip, is the insurance company wants to know the length and width, along with any obstacles. I listed my airstrip years ago with the FAA. Even though it is only 1600 ft long, the insurance company has not had problem as long as they feel the aircraft can safely operate out of it.
