looking for tail wheel stooge

does anyone know where to buy a stooge for the tail wheel? i can't find them listed anywhere i thought i saw one in a/s catalog

I'm with Paul on this one. I thought I was pretty savvy on Airknockers but I'm not familiar with this thing. Only stooge I ever knowingly had on the tail was the line guy who held it for me while I propped the plane.

a stooge is a mechanical quick release that lets the pilot releases the tail tie down from cockpit

The Aeronca Aviators club under Joe Dickey had a pretty neat solution with a length of rope, a smooth wooden pin and a couple of good knots. You set it up, pulled the pin and then pulled the rope into the cabin.

Danny,

There are a lot of interesting ideas on the Radio Control sites. Looks like a lot of ground launched radio control planes are usings Stooges and some of the pictures look like they would be easily up-scaled to full size aircraft. A good knot book will help too. I use a quick release knot on a tether line on the dock with the seaplane when hand propping.

Danny, It was Mark, not me, that posted about the Aeronca Aviator's Club, but I did a word search there and could not find anything on Stooges. Nor was there anything on Joe Dickey, so maybe it is a different Club than the one I belong to.

Joe Dickey was the Aeronca aviator club, he gave every thing to the present club to continue on. Alot of his letters and tips, etc are what are on sale in the present club store. Instead of stooges, search for quick release in the newsletters, their are pictures even.
