Seat back AD?

Post by bob turner »

I have read it three times, and apparently an aircraft cannot be ferried without complying with this one. Is it because it is so easy to do, or is it that dangerous on a ferry flight? AD 2009-22-02.

Bob,
It's pretty easy to inspect. On the ferry flight just leave the seat empty. There should also be a small cable that prevents the seat back from flopping all the way down on the lower cushion. There was one case where the back cushion was removed and during acro the seat back frame trapped the stick. The guy jumped out and was featured in a parachute Ad.
Now this AD only applies to the seat that ACA did not produce, funny how that happens 20 years later. Take your Nitro pills, the last time I needed a seat it took your breath away.
