Prop bolt length

We did the annual on the Champ yesterday and finally replaced the ugly Flottorp prop with a Sensenich W72CK42. My problem is that the Sensenich hub is 1/8" thicker than the Flottorp and we noticed that the bolts are 1-11/2 threads short of full engagement on the -8F flange. Is this OK, or do I need to find longer bolts?

Check with Sensenich on the bolts. Prop bolts have a slightly longer thread area for the flange shafts.

Sensenich provides very concise information about the installation of the W72-42CK propeller and along with it the exact hardware and torque values recommended for it. If, for some reason you did not receive this, it is a free cell phone call to get this information direct from them. You will need to know exactly which engine, aircraft model and complete flange end details for this call. I recommend that you do it this way. I have the info they provided for my A-65 with a tapered shaft end and can copy it if you need but I think it is better that you talk directly to the provider.

Thanks, I plan to call Sensenich in the morning. Just hoped someone had a ready answer. The A series manual doesn't mention prop bolts, but the C series says 4 1/8" length for flanged shaft and 4 1/4" for tapered shaft.
