Is the Aeronca chief fuel tanks vented through the fuel caps?
Re: Fuel vents
Yes and be sure they are open. We had an exciting incident once where someone had made a new fuel cap gasket and covered up the vent hole. Lucky we were only on the take off roll.

Re: Fuel vents
The front tank is vented thru the cap. The aux tank has a vented tank and a non vented cap. Be careful not to switch them.
Re: Fuel vents
I have added vent tube to my main tank caps because of the possibility of the internal vent not being enough or getting clogged. Had transfer problems from the Aux tank also until I found a hole in the upper part of the tank, which was venting the aux tank, where the cap is NOT vented.

Re: Fuel vents
Hello,
I understand that the aux tank is vented by the overflow line ?
Thanks

Re: Fuel vents
On my 7CCM the overflow / vent tube was not cut on a 45 degree angle as specified and surprisingly correcting of this did make a difference. Had something to do with ram air I am sure. From reading all the different venting issues on multiple web sites, these systems seem to gain issues with age. The Ram Vented Caps that I made have solved the problems on more than one of my Aeroncas.
