I don’t think Real Robert the Clock repair guy, is around and repairing Old aircraft clocks. I have a 8 day clock in my 7AC Champ, ya you guessed it, (It don’t work), from experience you only need to wind it a few times and be sure not to wind it up tight, or until the you hit the wind up stop. Learned that in the Army, for the record my Clock A wittmann will run, but stops after a few minutes to 10 minutes, ifI shake it,it will start again, but does the same, hopefully some body in the Aeronca family knows who can do a cleaning and repair. After having owned dozens of aircraft and having everyone of their clocks either fail or never work to begin with, I have given up and use stick on times I buy from Walmart. In addition to being a clock, they are count down timers too,

Yes I’ve seen those Clocks, bestbuy also has a one, that’s more in my way of LED type unit. A friend of mine a modelbuilder mounted an LED unit in a classic aircraft clock, asked him where he got it, I made it! I am not giving up somebody out their rebuilds these units
,and services them, I’ve seen several Aeroncas with working 8 day Clocks. Thank you for your post. HNY

Sporty's also has a few models to pick from, but the kitchen timers from the Big Box Stores work great. Having the timer function also allows me to record operational time without a HOBBS meter and more accurately provides actual flight time rather than RPM / Tach Time. Depending on how far you taxi and what cruise power settings you use, the old rule of thumb that loggable time is 120 % of Tach time is not always accurate.
