Air Maze filter

My Champ has an Air Maze filter element, the filter didn't show any visible signs of damage but I wanted to replace it so ordered a new one.
Now my question for those who know, instead of soaking the element in 10 weight engine preservation oil would it not be just as effective to use
K&N spray on filter oil? I know it would be less messy and have had good luck with this filter oil on my 1 ton and it lives in a dusty environment on construction jobs and have never gotten any dust into the main filter.
