Open Letter to all Sedan Owners

Post by AV8R2 »

Ladies and Gentlemen,

I have had to come to realize that even I cannot outwit the marching of time.

Therefore, as soon as I can find someone or some other company that
will take up the manufacturing of Sedans and Sedan parts,
as well as all the other items that we manufacture I will be retiring.

I have taken the Sedan to heart now for almost 50 years. I brought it
back from certain death due to lack of parts. With what expertise I
may have gained along the way I have enjoyed sharing with all of you when asked.

I do not take this lightly and I find it difficult to even write this letter.
But I must face reality. I will be 80 years old soon and I would like to spend
my last few years with my wonderful wife of 50 years, Martha.
Lord knows the has been my greatest champion in this endeavor.

I would, if someone or another company does buy Burl's Aircraft, LLC or its assets,
consider to be available for consulting for a short time afterwards.

So I am asking all of you, if you know of anyone or another company that may be interested in
purchasing the Sedan and all else that I manufacture, to please contact me.

With Best Regards for All,

Burl

Burl-

I re-posted your letter to the NAA Facebook page and personally contacted three people capable of continuing your legacy. I'm not sure they can afford to take on such a task, but are capable if they would.

Thank you, Richard.

I have received a couple of inquiries but mostly curiosity.

I am open to discussion if anyone wants to talk seriously.

I also have several other items that I have that are PMA'd
as well as several STC's that have nothing to do with the Sedan.

Any interested parties please call.

It seems there is some misunderstanding in my offering the AeroSedan, Aeronca fitting parts
and all else that I manufacture for sale.

I am not closed for business. In fact I expect this to take some time for any of this
to happen. No one has offered any interest of real consequence.

That being said, I am fully operational and will continue to do so until I do
find a buyer. When I do I will let all know.

If you need parts we have a lot of parts on the shelf. New, FAA/PMA factory parts.
Call and let me know what you need.

Burl I have sat in the shadows long enough and after getting involved in a discussion group to keep your dream alive I will attempt to call you today and see what needs to be done.

Hi Richard,

Have you talked to Jim Wells? I think he has a lot of information and has reached out to someone here at the club. He and I talked since I fly a Sedan and he has two of them.

I don''t know if all have seen or read my last letter of December 5. 2022 but here it is:

December 5, 2022

Ladies and Gentlemen,

Today is my 80th birthday and the time has come to make the decision that I have been putting off for so long.

December 31, 2023 will be our last day in business. I will be closing
down Burl’s Aircraft, LLC whether the business sells or not.

There will be no more Sedan or Sedan parts, tail skis, AOSS landing gear system, no more fuel screens, etc.

By that date I will be 81 and now I will be taking time for my wife, Martha and myself.

No phone calls will be taken, no orders will be processed. In essence;
I’m done.

This is a hard date and there is no turning back so if you know someone or some company that wants to buy they had better hurry.

Those of you who I have spoken to about buying? Now is the time to decide. Like my mother always said; “Pee or get off the pot!”.

Regards,

Burl

Burl-

You have put something in stone. Whatever will you do with everything you have accumulate if no one steps up in 362 days?

There has to be someone that we have yet to identify.

In the meantime I will keep buying lottery tickets.

Perhaps if you put a number you would be comfortable with out there for prospective buyers to consider?

Still thinking of you and how to make things work.
