O-200 Air Filter Alignment

Post by CJ7Pilot »

I recently bought a '45 7AC with a Wagner O-200 conversion.

The conversion is nicely done overall, but I'd really like the air filter to line up to the cowl, and I'd like to put a seal around it.

I've read in these forums that others have had trouble with this, but I can't find any solutions.

Any thoughts? Thank you!

Sorry, I'm having trouble with images.

Here's a link to a pic of my problem: http://bearingbeltchain.com/images/611_Air_Cleaner.jpg

Some people have tried to make a wedge to align the filter. Installing between the carburetor and the airbag. I've had some success in installation of added shim washers on the induction spider at the crankcase mount studs. A small width if baffling material can help to close the area between the filter and the nose bowl.

Thank you!

It's going in for an annual soon, and I'll discuss these ideas with my A&P.
