There's a '39 Chief just listed on Barnstromers. Doesn't say if it's a Cont. or an O-145 though. roger

Roger --

Thanks--I contacted the person and it is a Lycoming Chief--no thanks--nice aircraft but the engine kills it.

see if he'll sell it without the engine. if the airframe is ok you can put a contiental on it. the O-145 makes a good boat anchor. bernie

Doug,

Yea...I use to have a '39 Chief with the O-145. I always though it was a sweet running little engine, but always felt it was probably closer to 55 hp than the advertised 65. I guess they are getting hard to maintain now also. Roger

I had one once also and got rid of it--It was under powered and parts were hard to find. Looked for an engine mount to change engines but never could find one. If his airplane had a Continental I would have bought it. I am getting too old for projects--just want to fly while the sun shines. :)

Doug, are you any relation to Nathan Rounds and once own a Travel Air 6000?
