Aileron Contol Strap

Well, got the new baby (L16A) home and started inventorying boxes of parts this afternoon. So far most everything is there, but I'm short the four straps (Part number 1-2355 on page # 15 of the Aeronca Champ manual). They go from the bellcrank under the floorboards to each side (2) and connect to the aileron sector. I'm sure as time goes on, I'll find more missing pieces, but I could use these straps right now if someone has them available. This one is truly a basket case and much more disassembled than others I've tackled.........but as Jody says, "Keep them flying".

Also, I think this has been discussed before, but does anyone have a good solution to removing paint overspray from the windshield? It appears someone didn't feel it necessary to cover up things in the shop while spraying Cub yellow in the area. I'd be interested in any solution that will clean the plastic windshield and not destroy it at the same time.

If you can help me out with the aileron straps, contact me off list with price and particulars.

Thanks,

Mike Berg

Mike: If the overspray is like a mist coating, you can get it off with fine rubbing compound that body shops use on paint to polish it. Get a buffing pad for your hand drill and go nuts. Don't stay in one spot too long. It will also take the scratches out of the plexi, if you have that much patients.
