No Bounce Gear

This has probably been posted before but I just happened upon it and it demonstrates pretty clearly that no matter how hard you try...you just can't get that thing to bounce and believe me, I've tried. I see all sorts of efforts to reinvent the wheel in the kitplane landing gear market but few of th...

Re: Tail position light bulb

Thanks Paul, looking at picture of GE1176 on eBay it looks like dual element such as a tail/stop or turn light meaning both terminals would be positive and ground through base. Other pictures show single element. Maybe I can just find one at O’Reillys and see.

Tail position light bulb

Aircraft is a '58 Champion 7FC/EC with the "Flash Gordon" type nav lights shaped like a 1930's space ship. Anyway the tail light is a different bulb, has two contacts with a dedicated ground wire because it's mounted on the rudder. I can't read the number on it. Does anyone know what it is?

Re: Citabrias and Decathlons?

Bob

I haven't heard of this problem from anyone else. Are you certain the o-ring is not getting damaged somehow on installation? Perhaps a burr or something on the screen?

Re: Trim

A feature of a servo tab elevator trim that many people are not aware of is that as you trim full nose up you are also reducing the effective elevator surface which then reduces the maximum elevator authority. This is why, if you have pushed the trim all the way back you may run out of elevator in t...

Re: 7EC with 90 empty weight

According to the calculations mine is 1022 but it's a converted FC so there's some extra steel up front at the firewall, it has full electrical with original generator and starter, big Collins 760VHF and a transponder. Also has Milman spars which are probably a few extra pounds and I'd guess at leas...

Re: Starter Arm ??

Paul - I would say it's the same because the Oil arm for both 7AC and 7EC is listed as -33 in the TCDS

Re: Battery installation for a Champ

I am in the process of putting an Odyssey SBS-J12 battery in my Champ. Right now it has a Gil G-25 installed behind the rear seat. I want to install the Odyssey on the firewall (fwd side) and I was going to do a 337 but after doing my research I have come to the conclusion that it is not necessary, ...

Cross Country

I finally had some time to take my Champ on a decent x-country trip from Byron CA to Cedar City UT - 1150 miles, 17.2 hours on the Hobbs and about 100 gallons of avgas. There was a fire in central Utah and when I got to the airport for an early morning departure on Sunday I found this parked next to...

Re: AD List for 7BCM

I've found that it's virtually useless to bookmark any of the pages on the FAA website as they are constantly fiddling with it and moving stuff around. For some reason they just can't leave well enough alone. So you're best long term solution is to just Goggle "Airworthiness Directives" an...

Re: GC to GCA conversion

If you could scan it and email a copy to me that would be great. If you'd rather just send me a copy by regular mail that would work too. I've sent you my addresses by private message. This will help a great deal in getting approval. Thanks.

GC to GCA conversion

I know a guy who knows a guy :-) who wants to put an O-320 on his O-290 powered 7GC Now I've gone over all the details, The GC and the GCA are identical in every way per the TC, right down to having the same prop. The problem is that there were only a handful of GCA's built and there was never a ser...

Re: Fuel gauge

Update: I had a new lens made and put it all together with a new cork gasket that I made myself. It did leak a little bit, just some weeping so I ordered a tube of EZ-turn and put it on the threads. That seems to have done the trick, it's been leak free for about a week now.

Re: Reaching the heel brakes on a 7AC

Here's my "close one" I went back to take a picture and measurements. Couldn't have been more than half an inch, more like a quarter! This was many years ago in a rental Citabria. One, that for some reason, had been ground looped no less than four times (that I knew of) Fortunately never b...

Re: Reaching the heel brakes on a 7AC

Dick I'm wondering, have you found this to be a problem in operation? What I mean is, have you flown the airplane and run into a situation where you had full rudder applied and needed to step on the brake as you are implying? I ask because mine (Cleveland hydraulic) seem to be set up the same as you...
