15AC wing AD video

A friend of mine just posted a YouTube video on cutting the holes for the AD. It's titled (logically enough), 15AC Sedan Wing Ad. I don't have access from this Nook to post a link, but a YouTube search should bring it up.

Re: A Very, Very, Very Bad Day...

The auction closed on Saturday. Chartis notified me today that the final bid was $6200 and she went to Chris Jarman who runs a salvage operation around PHX.

The settlement check from Chartis arrived today, so it is finished. Here's a link to the salvage auction website, just in case someone is looking for a project:

You've got dibs on the intercom, Mike. The other stuff is also sold, pending receipt of payment.

Re: A Very, Very, Very Bad Day...

Thanks to all for the kind thoughts. Mike Connell from Decorah came down today to do an estimate for the insurance. Unfortunately, the closer we look, the more damage we find. Both spars on the right wing are broken, along with multiple ribs...not sure on the left wing. There's also some fuselage da...

A Very, Very, Very Bad Day...

Got a call this morning at 8 AM while we were still up at the cabin in northern MN from our house sitter telling us of the storm damage in Vinton, closely followed by a call from a pilot friend who'd gone out to the airport. The Redbird is mortally wounded, as are two other planes and at least one h...

Re: Anyone fly from the house?

I doubt having your own strip and hangar will reduce ownership costs, but it would be more convenient. I have one flying friend who has just built a 1200' strip at his farm and has a hangar under construction (I'm moving my plane into his space when he moves out) and another friend who is considerin...

Re: Check this out

We had one just a bit less scary than that last summer leaving Blakesburg in my friend's Fairchild 24. We had 3 of us onboard, a nasty crosswind, a very wet turf runway and about 90 degree temp. We didn't clip any trees, but apparently some of the witnesses thought we were going to. I was in the bac...

Re: Mogas

It's standard no-ethanol car gas. Octane depends on vendor and location. It's 87 here at VTI, which is 'Regular' pump gas in Iowa. It comes from the local bulk dealer, same guy who delivers to the farmers. We don't even get a price break when we order it....we get charged town pump price plus $.25/g...

Actually, we have an unlimited source of energy that only needs a bit of technology to harness. If we can only capture all of the hot air from liberals and politicians of all ilks, we could run the world forever...or at least until the rapture REALLY comes.
