Blakesburg 2015

Blakesburg's coming up. We're going to have an informal forum/gathering of Aeronca enthusiasts Friday Sept. 4th 3:30 PM at the Ground Loop Inn patio. We can talk Aeronca's, the club, aviation in general or Donald Trump.
Hope to see you there.

Re: Bendix Mag SF-4 issue - 400 rpm drop on right mag/sparkp

Fresno for $97 each, but with Fresno you have to mail payment then wait on your parts or COD them. It just depends on how much of a hurry you are in the recieve your parts.
FYI, Fresno has entered the twentieth century and now take credit/debit cards over the phone.

Re: Fabric Process

Finished color Tennesse red Randothane" I assume they meant Ranthane which is Randolph's urethane. Either way I don't see a problem sanding down the urethane and re-shooting it or sanding down the butyrate, if that's what it is and re-shooting it. If it's butyrate on the top coat I just happen...

If there's enough interest I'd be willing to set up an Aeronca meeting/forum next year at Blakesburg.

Re: 11CC Chief

At this point I'm going to pull the trigger on this one if I can get the present owner to get the state (Wisconsin) registration up to date. I'm looking at the paperwork and previous bills of sale and it shouldn't be a big problem (famous last words). The state of Wisconsin is kind of funny, the Bu...

Dale,

The applicable regs you're looking for is FAR 43; specifically 43.3 and Appendix A to Part 43.

Re: 7BCM ELEC SYSTEM

The 7EC is approved under the STC's AML and should be close enough for the FAA because they're all certified under the same TCDS. Get the paperwork process going first, you need to get your A&P to send in a 337 showing the alternator installation and that the STC is approved for the 7EC, 7FC, et...

Re: 7BCM ELEC SYSTEM

The starter shouldn't need anything other then a 337 on the starter install and one on the switch install, both are approved under the AML. The alternator/generator (which is what the B&C really is) would need a field approval. Depends on your FSDO but it should be fairly easy, just make a 337 s...

Aeronca 11AC

Friend of mine wants to sell his 65 HP Chief. Very low time and very original. Spent most it's life in the Central Wisconsin area. Go to Barnstormers for ad and pictures under my name.

Re: Propeller flange snap ring

Been a year or so since I did one, but here's what I think I do. Get a good hose clamp and pull the ring around the flange nut as tight as you can. Slide the hub on the crank and space it out a little from the case using some wood blocks (size accordingly to allow nut to screw in). Put some oil arou...

Re: My Super Champ is going up for sale.

The Aeronca is not, nor has ever been a Light Sport Aircraft, period. It is a Standard Category aircraft that meets LSA specifications. N86250 lists the definition for a Light Sport aircraft not Standard Category. Perfect way to describe it. As Paul says when you're flying an Aeronca you're flying ...

Re: My Super Champ is going up for sale.

Let's go about this another way. Forget individual aircraft, put that out of your mind. Focus instead on the certification process, that's what the FAA is talking about in the definition. Nobody is going back in time and changing how any Aeronca was certified nor are they changing the original docum...

Re: My Super Champ is going up for sale.

It can only be a light sport aircraft if "it has continued to meet 1320 pounds for aircraft not intended for operation on water". By definition, if it's gross weight ever exceeded 1320 pounds, it cannot be a light sport aircraft. You can modify and change models and legally change the gro...

Re: seized spark plug

Try it hot. As for the plug you moved but can't get out, you sheared the brass dowel that hold the brass plug adapter (that's screwed in) in place. You're going to have to either take it out or if the plug comes loose, drill out the dowel and replace it. I think your mechanic should re-calibrate his...
