Re: Champ Auxiliary Fuselage Tank

I'm dropping out of this post - Champ Aux FUSELAGE TANK. Mine are new unmounted 5 gal wing tanks, not Fuselage Aux tanks! I did not read the post topic correctly. Orlan

Charles - I received a pair of the 5 (or 5.5 gal) aux tanks from WagAero this week. I will make digital photos and send you same Sat/26FEB. I need your e-mail for attachments as I have only posted photos on this website w/Joe's help. WagAero has back ordered the aluminum fuel tubing, everything else...

Re: Inflight re-start on non-electric engines

I have intentionally stopped the engine/prop on our 7AC-CONV (C85-8, metal prop) to establish procedure for air restart. Here are the results: With the PROP STOPPED, a dive to the 115 +/- mph indicated is necessary to get the prop to turn. Don't dally around, get the nose down and fly it. I see abou...

Re: Aeronca's and LSA weight

The 1320 pound gross weight came from IOCA's 600 Kilogram limit. Simple multi-decimal place metric conversion math will get you a tad over 1320 pounds. However, the US government likes numbers rounded off in it's favor. Our government generally followed Europe's lead on the LSA rules. However, the E...

Re: Wing Stand needed for 7AC in southeast Texas

Howdy Joe, Elizabeth & I are rebuilding a pair of 7FC (7FC-CONV to 7EC style in'82). The wing covers on Snoopy, N2618E (7AC-CONV) are approaching no-pass condition for next annual, so need to be stripped, inspected, possibly new spars, some hardware and recover. We had the formers de-laminate as...

Re: Possible new SB or AD for Champs?

Heads up fellers! How many of you have HINGED REAR SEAT-BACKS? I bet not many. The key to this AD critter is it does not apply to 7AC, 7BC, 7CCM models - they were not manufactured and delivered with hinged seat backs. If you don't have a HINGED REAR SEAT-BACK logically your's is not going to break ...

Howdy Joe. Elizabeth got her license in Oct 07. She has since flown over 60 hours in the 7AC plus 50 in a Cherokee 160 and the balance in the Comanche. We acquired a pair of basket case 7FCs that were converted to tail-draggers (7EC style) in 1982. We are repairing both with about 4 week lag in stat...

what is the FAA's DATA BASE ID for a 7AC?

I saw the id number in print about 18 months ago. It was 4 or 5 characters, NOT 7AC, nor the CAA's x-759 certification id. When the FAA enters this number on the Center's computer the particulars of the 7AC are displayed. One of my buddies was inside the Houston Vail on the west side but under the f...

7CCM tail on 7AC w/Cnn-8/12 engines

My research for refurbishing 7AC N2618E is as follows: C85-8 limited to gross weight of 1200# with small vertical stab OK. If you just add the 7CCM larger v-stab you get another 80# gross from 1220# to 1300#, with probably 7-8 pounds of that 80# consumed with the V-stab leading edge hoop weight, mor...
