Attaching Stringers to Bulheads

What is the preferred way to attach the stingers to the bulkheads? T88? Wire? My old ones I removed from the airplane were wire tied together and the slots were worn from many years of maintenance or whatever. My new slots are a nice tight fit. Should I glue them?

Re: Aux Tank Sight Guage

Thanks for the link Richard. I called them and spoke to a fellow there. Real nice guy. I went ahead and ordered one of their guage kits. I am wondering if it is a direct fit or if I will need to adjust or bend the wire to accommodate the aux tank.

Re: Fuel Gauge Question

Hi Mike. I know this post is quite old. Did you ever get your aux tank fixed up? I am in the same boat and looking to fix the sight gauge in mine.

Aux Tank Sight Guage

I have been reading through the threads on the sight gauges. I need to repair the gauges on both my tanks. I was hoping someone could point me in the right direction on who carries parts for them. Specifically for the 8 gal Aux tank on the Chief?

Re: Another Chief Restoration

Making some more progress on the Chief. I made a set of rotisserie stands for the fuselage. The fuselage is epoxy primed and painted. New bulkheads and birdcage fitted. I am waiting on the stingers from Aircraft Spruce. They tell me it will be another two weeks... I picked up a nice dorsal fin from ...

Dorsal Fin Question

Does anyone have a picture of a dorsal fin installed on a fuselage (uncovered)? I am going to fabricate a dorsal fin from the drawings. I am curious how the forward part of the dorsal fin transitions to the top stringer. The drawing shows it being 1 5/8" above the fuselage tubing. Also, trying ...

Re: Another Chief Restoration

Should have the fuselage back this Wednesday. Then I’ll get to work priming and painting.

What type of wood are people using for the stringers nowadays? I just as told by one person Suger Pine?

11AC Bulkhead Questions

I have a couple questions about the bulkeads on my Chief. I am making new bulkheads. I called Wag Aero and AS to see what their bulkheads are made out of. It sounds like they are 3 ply pine. I was going to use birch ply. Any reason not to? Question on the stiffeners I found on my old bulkheads in th...
