We now have approval on our new fuel valve for the Sedan. The first kit is being permanently installed on the aircraft that the test/prototype valve was installed in previously.
We should have valve kits available in 4-6 weeks due to manufacturing lead time required.
The new valve kit comes with
1 ea. 7-839-9A valve,
1 ea. 7-839-9-2 mounting plate,
new fuel valve placard fabrication drawing, installation drawing and instructions with an ICA included.
With this being said; I can now use the data that we obtained for the Sedan to move forward with the valves for the Champs and Chiefs for the main fuel valve and the aux wing tank valve.
These will be separately STC'd valves. I hope to have this project completed in 2-3 months at the latest.

I note that you have an STC for an Odyssey battery in a Sedan. I am restoring a Champ 7AC with the Lasher C85 STC for the engine. I plan on using the Sky-Tec starter and the newly STC'd B&C alternator. I would like to use the Odyssey battery.
How hard would it be for you to get the Odyssey STC'd for the Champ? I bet many would like to use it to keep the weight down.

You have the benefit of being in Alaska. Here in the lower 48, FSDOs seem to be very reluctant to do many field approvals. My FSDO just disallowed a ferry permit even though the IA signed it off as good for a 50 mile flight. The fed pointed out there was oil on the belly as one of his reasons.7GC wrote:You should be able to at least get it field approved. I have it in my 7GC and there are many airplanes that use it.
I would rather have an STC than fight for a field approval. Not my idea of sport.

That problem, I think, is over and done with. Another FSDO guy reviewed everything after the fact and my IA was correct. But by the time all that was completed the annual had been done in place. A pain but it didn't require the ferry permit.
