Worth of C-85?

Post by CptKelly »

Whats a good running, 400smoh C-85-12 worth, with slick mags, carb, and baffling? I am toying with the prospect of selling a spare engine we have.

Just a guess but $3-5000? Depends a lot on how bad someone needs it.

Assume that it has logbooks with it and was pickled correctly.

Does it have a flange crank or taper hub?

C-85 worth?

Post by CptKelly »

My spare engine has a taper shaft, and comes with the prop hub, logs, oil tank, slick mags... most everything except the exhaust.... and is pickled.
Oh, the starter shaft has already been cut off for one of the lightweight starters.

price of 85-12

Knowing little about engines, when I had my champ I checked Victor and Penn Yann about complete overhaul. Prices were 21000.00 and 22500.00! So if your engine is right, with 400 hours I would think its worth serious money. I'd put it on this site and Barnstormers and see what develops. I'd ask 7-10 grand if you can wait. It must be worth that isn't it? Like someone said, if the right person sees it, its worth alot!
