Howdy , new member ... oleos?

Hello all , my name is John Lundberg , I reside in south western Montana , I'm new to this world of Aeroncas, & flying , Just have to finish my written and do my checkride .. Just got a beautiful 1941 65 CA Super Chief. My first plane

It has been in storage for several years and , we're doing an extensive annual to get it running .
Question ; the right oleo is soft . Can anyone tell me how it comes out of the strut housing? and besides filling it with hyd oil, what are the solutions /options .

Hi John. A post war Chief owner, John Baker, has an excellent site on oleo info. I don't know if it is the same as pre war however. Anyhow, it's at the following.

John,
The oleo can get hung up in the housing. Remove the 1/4" bolt at the top and the oleo should slide out. Sometimes the bolt gets over-tightened and distorts the housing binding the oleo.
If by soft you mean leaning, the oleo spring may be weak. The oleos in my KCA are slightly different than a 7AC. The spring may work, check with your inspector and Univair, they make the 7AC springs.
