sensenich propeller

Post by albert johnson »

Hello all, I've got a 7ec with 90 and I'm puting it on edo 1400 floats. The problem is i dont know which prop to get a Sensenich 76ak-2-42 or 76ak-2-40? Does any one have any opinions on this or have one these prop's are your plane. I would sure like to hear what kind of rpm you are getting. thanks

Albert:

I have that prop in a 42 pitch. I purchased it as a 44 but had two inches taken out after a few months.

On floats, I think the 40 pitch would be very nice. I've considered taking another two inches off, even on wheels. I rarely make long trips and really like short-field work. I think the 90hp Cub uses this prop with a 38 pitch.

My 7EC went from 2250 rpm wide-open throttle in cruise to redline at WOT. The throttle can come back nearly halfway to stay under 2300rpm.

The Champ goes faster with a 42 than it did with a 44!

edit to add: Static RPM is around 2250, with ~2300 climb rpm at 60 mph.

I'd go with a 40 pitch if you're on floats.

What would be a good "climb" pitch, 44? or Lower. On wheels. C-90

Tom,
My buddy recently sold his CCM that had a C-90 and the plane was on floats. I will see what his prop pitch was and get back to you. He posts on the SC site so he may answer your question there also.
