I finally got the cables rerouted above the formers and attached to the trim control arm, no mean feat. I had to cut about 6" of the headliner to get those bolts back into place.
Now I have a new problem. One cable is too short so nose down is something like 60* and nose up is 0*. Somehow I have to lengthen the nose down cable by about 1". Any ideas on how to do this?
My first idea was to make up two parallel strips of metal to attach to the cable and the trim tab horn. I found this same thing used at the trim control arm in the cabin.
One more surprise was that there is only one trim cable turnbuckle!! There isn't enough space for another one though because the cable would then be too long!! This makes adjusting the trim tab pretty tricky since the cable tension and tab deflection change at the same time.
This airplane has been full of surprises, none of them good.
