Same question-Different plane...Lift rings for Champ

Post by WWhunter »

I saw a post on this section inquiring about lift rings....well, I am wanting them for my Champ. I am on 26" AkBushwheels right now but that white fluffy stuff is starting to acumulate on the ground and I will need to put skis on soon. Then of course I go to floats in the summer. I can use a jack for the wheels but really need rings when doing the float change-out. The A&P that helps me do this suggested I make up a couple of bracket with lift rings. Does anyone have any drawings of this type of bracket? Or a least an idea of what thickness strap of steel I would need. I have a few threaded rings already but they are probably a little large and would like to find some stainless ones if possible.
Thanks,
Keith

Keith,
You might try ACA and see if they have the items for their products. It should be pretty easy to adapt them for a Champ.

Paul,
That would be WAY to easy!! I want to dig, scrounge, scratch my head and hope I made one that'll hold the plane up. LOL

Keith,
This would be the perfect opportunity to buy that crane you always wanted. Or you could install the Brodie gear and just hang it from a cable while you knock the bolts out.

Mike Utley from Wag just chimed in on the other thread and he has just what Keith is looking for. Nothing like factory parts!
